Building My Guitar... I'm Fucked

Project 2

So the last you heard from me I completely re-wired the electrics, today has been a very productive day, I managed to put a clear gloss on the body, I used 1 can on each side! then sanded that down. TA DAH the body is now done :) so I put it all back together, I put the humbuckers in place and screwed the frames back on. I then soldered them to the switch, earthed them and I also earthed that up to the bridge. I tested the electrics again to make sure it all works and then started to put all the knobs back in place and also put the backplate on to cover all the wires!!! More to come in 5 mins.

Project 2

Ok so I didn’t wait the 24 hours for it to fully set about 12 hours? Shoot me :D I just wanted to see what it looked like, so off came the masking tape, and this beauty hid behind it, there is quite a few touch ups I need to do with a very fine brush but overall for a first attempt I was really pleased!!! Still have loads to do need to sort the edges out, touch ups then putting a clear glossy coat on top then sanding then electrics in the guitar and bang we should be done :D so I predict funds pending that this guitar should be all done by the end of this month :D *Fingers Crossed*

Project 2

Now the circles have been cut out I can paint the black ! This is the part I have been most looking forward too, and also the part where I can take the masking tape off and see the both colours against each other! The only draw back is I have to wait 24 hours for the paint to dry before I can take the masking tape off :(

Project 2

So it has all the masking tape on it and time to test out our home made compass, we fixed the screw in and put the pencil in the first hole, I put a bit of masking tape on the pencil so everytime we moved it to another hole it will always go in the same depth, once the first circle was drawn I moved the pencil down to the next hole and kept following the same technique.

Once all the Circles were drawn I used a new craft knife with a thin blade and cut out each circle.

Most Les Pauls have binding around the edge this one (possibly because it is a cheap guitar), it hasn’t got it, so the edging might be a little bit rough so will have to think of something to sort that.

Project 2

The White base coat has been dry for about 4-5 days now so time to put the Bullseye design on it so first things are first, time to put masking tape on it, the front I had to put strips on so I can cut out the design, the back I just used paper to cover it up, to safe on my masking tape as no design is going on the back!

As compasses are not big enough for my guitar we had to make a make shift one! So we had the screw in the end of the wood worked out where the first circle would be drawn and then drilled a hole every 3cm for the pencil to fit into.

Project 2

Ok I let the primer dry for a couple of hours and the guitar is looking good no obvious scratches! so time to unleash the white paint, this is going to be my base coat! I put on thin layers again to prevent any dripping! I will do put about 2-3 coats on it just takes so long to dry! Anyway after all this has been done I can start marking out the design and that is where it should start looking awesome :D Even thought I am liking the white on its own.
